Hey there! I'm Jarley (talk • contributions • e-mail • blocks • protections • deletions • page moves • rights), the founder and primary adventurer of On Our Lines. I've been a life-long rail enthusiast, and now work professionally in the rail industry for London Underground as a signaller at Harrow-on-the-Hill. I also head up the campaign team at The Progress Train, focussing on greater LGBTQ+ diversity and inclusivity across the industry. Away from work, I volunteer as a tram conductor at Crich Tramway Village and can often be found checking in on Mark Wallinger's Labyrinths, a 2013 art project created by Art on the Underground.
Here at On Our Lines, I've been travelling the rails for over two years now, ever since boarding my first train at Uttoxeter in January 2019. Despite this, the project is still far from complete, with hundreds more stations still to be visited before the project is completed. It's been a hugely eye-opening experience, solidifying many views I already held about our lines but also opening my eyes to some of the difficulties and challenges being faced across the country. I've also had the chance to visit places that I'd never otherwise reach, as well as being lucky enough to have a number of behind the scenes experiences that have really enriched my travels.
You can read all about the main adventures over on the blog, but here at Bradshaw I'll be sharing more details about each of the trips, as well as other interesting snippets and information that is relevant to the wider adventure. But, crucially, Bradshaw is a wiki - and that means you can edit it! If you've been out on an adventure with me, this is the place where you can add your own experiences, photographs and more - or if you've been inspired to go on your own trips On Our Lines you can add these too.
