Liverpool Street Interlocking Machine Room at west end of platform 1 at Farringdon station on the London Underground. Saturday 18th October 2008

Liverpool Street signal box was a Metropolitan Railway non standard design built by McKenzie and Holland which opened 1st February 1875 fitted with a 40 lever frame. A replacement 20 lever Railway Signal Company Tappet frame was installed in 1910 and a further replacement 15 lever reconditioned Westinghouse B frame controlled from a bush button desk was installed on 21st February 1954. The box was closed as a signal box, converted to an interlocking machine room and was renamed Liverpool Street Interlocking Machine Room on 16th November 1956. The interlocking machine room was controlled from Farringdon signal box until 25th March 2001 when control was transferred from Baker Street SCC
