This page is an official policy of On Our Lines. It documents best practice and guidance for participating in the On Our Lines community, as well as how policies will be enforced as necessary. |
1. Overview and Purpose
By RSVPing to or attending an On Our Lines event, including any of the events or activities organised by or in association with On Our Lines or The Luxton Electric Traction Company Limited (collectively the “Event”), you signal that you have read, understand, and agree to the following Event Terms and Conditions.
2. Basic requirements to attend – including the Code of Conduct
In order to participate in the Event, you represent that:
- you have the requisite power and authority to enter into these terms.
- you have read and understood these Event Terms as well as the On Our Lines Terms of Service.
- you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct, which seeks to provide an inclusive, harassment-free experience for everyone.
- you agree to abide by any Byelaws, Conditions of Carriage/Travel, and/or similar terms of service imposed by third parties such as transport providers
- if you are aged between 16 and 18, you either:
- have written consent from a parent or legal guardian, and supply their contact information to the Event Manager; and/or
- are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
- if you are aged under 16, you are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
Participants asked to stop any prohibited behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in behaviour that violates the Code of Conduct or these Terms, the Event Manager, or their nominated representative, may take any action they deem appropriate, including, but not limited to, warning the offender or expulsion from the event and/or future events with no refund.
3. Pictures
On Our Lines or its partners sometimes take photos, videos and/or audio recordings at On Our Lines events. By participating in or attending the Event, you agree that you may appear in some of these photos and videos, and you authorise On Our Lines’ use of them. Similarly, if you take any photos or videos of attendees at the Event and provide them to us, you authorise us to use them in the same fashion, and represent that attendees that appear in your photos and videos have also consented to such use.
4. Risk, liability, and indemnity
Assumption of risk
Although we try to create a safe environment at the Event, accidents or other bad things happen, even to good people. We ask that you do your part to help limit the possibility that you or others might get injured at the Event.
You agree to carefully consider the risks inherent in any activities that you choose to take part in and to take reasonable precautions before you choose to attend or participate at an On Our Lines event. For example, you should ensure that you are in good physical health before engaging in any physical activity at an On Our Lines event. It's always good to remember that other event guests may be less responsible than you and may themselves create additional risk to you despite their best intentions.
In short, you understand that your attendance and participation at any On Our Lines event is voluntary, and you agree to assume responsibility for any resulting injuries to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law.
By the same token, you agree that On Our Lines is not responsible for any injuries or accidents that you might sustain at any events that On Our Lines doesn't organise or control.
Release of liability
You (for yourself, your heirs, personal representatives, or assigns, and anyone else who might make a claim on your behalf) hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue On Our Lines and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, partners, shareholders, members, agents, employees, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses or expenses (including court costs and reasonable legal fees) which may arise out of, result from, or relate in any way to your attendance at the Event or any related event, except, of course, for any gross negligence or wilful misconduct on our part.
Indemnity
By the same token, you agree to indemnify and hold On Our Lines, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives harmless, including costs, liabilities and legal fees, from any claim or demand made by any third party due to, related to, or connected with your attendance or conduct at the Event or any related event.
5. Termination
While we hope not to, On Our Lines may prohibit your attendance at any On Our Lines event at any time if you fail to abide by these Event Terms, the Code of Conduct, the Terms of Service, or for any or no reason, without notice or liability of any kind. Section 4 (Risk, liability, and indemnity) will continue to apply following any termination.
6. Choice of law and venue
The Event Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the laws of England and Wales.
7. Miscellaneous terms
You agree that you will not represent yourself as an employee, representative, or agent of On Our Lines (unless, of course, you are a representative of On Our Lines). We reserve the right to cancel the Event or any related event at any time, for any reason, and without liability or prejudice. Any failure on On Our Lines’ part to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these terms does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the Event Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable.
8. Notes
These Event Terms may be reproduced in multiple places across the On Our Lines estate. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the most recent version is displayed in spaces we control, you are advised to check the version number against our Policy Folder to ensure you are reading the most up-to-date information.
Changes to these Event Terms will be advised via facilities including, but not limited to, Discord, Bradshaw and other On Our Lines social channels. Where possible, 14 days’ notice will be given of any changes coming into effect, although we reserve the right to alter this period if necessary. In any event, you can withdraw your acceptance of the Event Terms at any time. If we alter the Event Terms after you have booked onto an On Our Lines event, and you withdraw your acceptance of the Event Terms, we will refund your booking in its entirety.
Portions of these Event Terms are based on GitHub’s Event Terms (CC By 4.0).
