Picture of the Month - 2025 archive
Here you can find all of the winning Picture of the Month entries during 2025.

January

We take a look behind the scenes at Amersham signal cabin for our first image of the year, from Jarley. The V-style interlocking machine is one of many found across the Underground, with Amersham's expected to remain in service for at least another two years.

February

London from the air! London Waterloo is the main focus of this month's image, from @lobsterman7474. London Charing Cross can also be seen to the top left, as well as London Waterloo East to the centre right.

March

A westbound District line train arrives at West Ham station, in this atmospheric capture from @finneyonatrain. It's hard to believe that the S7 stock trains are now approaching fifteen years old.

April

We return to Europe this month, with this wide angle capture of the cathedral-like Antwerpen Centraal station by @jarley.

May

Discord user @lobsterman7474 brings us our latest Picture of the Month: a London Underground Piccadilly line 1973 stock tread plate featuring Metro-Cammell and the year the trains were introduced. The impending withdrawal of the 1973 stock is expected to start to ramp up soon, with the first of the new 2024 stock trains due to enter service towards the end of the year.

June

For June our Picture of the Month comes from Discord user @chunkyboyjames. GBRf's celebrity class 73 73 128 "Kent & East Sussex Railway" and class 69 69 007 "Richard Trevithick" pass through Twickenham on their way to the Swanage Railway's 2025 diesel gala.

July

We head to Wallingford for this month's Picture of the Month, taken by Jarley. The Cholsey & Wallingford Railway's class 121 'bubblecar' 121 034 is seen at rest at Wallingford whilst working a series of special 'commuter' trips between Wallingford and Cholsey into the evening, in celebration of Railway 200.

August

Nottingham's Old Market Square is the scene for our Picture of the Month this time, with this view of Pride-liveried Nottingham Express Transit Incentro tram 210 from Discord user @kristinamoment.

September

The biggest railway event in decades took place last month: The Greatest Gathering at Alstom UK's Derby Litchurch Lane Works. Countless railway exhibits from across the country came together to celebrate 200 years of railways, and one of the stars of the show was the newly-preserved and reliveried class 150 150 231. Recently withdrawn from service with Transport for Wales, the train wears the original Regional Railways Sprinter design from the class's introduction in the 1980s. Thanks to @.ajomega for this snap!

October

Mind the Sheep! October's Picture of the Month comes from the lens of @callmeflick, with this capture of sheep crossing at Brynglas on the Talyllyn Railway. There's a new excuse for your commute to work!

November

This month we head to Teignmouth on the English Riviera, with this attractive photo from @deadly. The station opened in its present form shortly after Brunel's broad gauge line was converted to standard gauge, and is today served by Great Western Railway services between Exeter and Paignton, as well as longer distance services between Penzance and Cardiff Central or London Paddington, and CrossCountry east-west services.
