Wimbledon Signal Box was opened on the 16th of April 1990 having abished Wimbledon A, B & C boxes as well as Wimbledon Park and East Puntey on the District Line. This leads to the unuasal situation ware London Underground owns the track however Network Rail does the signalling.
Future
It was proposed to overlay CBTC between East Putney and Wimbledon for District Line S8 Stock as part of the Four Lines Modernisation however this got descoped due to lack of capacity increase and the signslling being realativly new for the age of London Underground signalling equiptment.

Wimbledon Signal Box currently Fringes with Earls Court for Distrcit Line services, Basingstoke ROC for Norbiton, Richmond and Kew Bridge for the Windsor Lines and for the South Western Main Line it is Woking Signal Box.
