  • Step Back: A procedure used on some London Underground lines at terminus stations where after a train arrives at the terminus a new Train Operator boards the rear of the train for departure, the original Train Operator then "steps back" onto the next train. This procedure is used to allow trains to terminate more frequently while allowing Train Operators enough time to change ends.
