Winnersh originally opened as Sindlesham Halt due to the growth around Wokingham and the South Eastern Railway wanted to tap into that market, before being renamed to Winnersh Halt by the Southern Railway then in 1939 it was electrified under the 750V DC third rail system. In 1967 British Rail dropped the Prefix "Halt" from Winnersh Halt and it was renamed to Winnersh.
Services
[edit | edit source]Services are normally provided by South Western Railway on a half hourly frequency between Reading and London Waterloo. There is two trains per day Monday to Friday which are operated by Great Western Railway which call at Winnersh, one in the Morning and one in the evening. The Morning one is 2V36 the 06:40 Redhill to Reading and the Evening one is 1O75 the 15:18 Reading to Gatwick Airport service on the North Downs Line.
