Rolling Stock
[edit | edit source]Class 313
[edit | edit source]When London Overground took over the line from Sliverlink Metro, they inherited the Class 313 dating from the 1970s, these were replaced by the class 378 Capitalstars.
Class 387
[edit | edit source]
The Class 378s were introduced as 3 car units known as the 378/0s in 2010, before being extended to 4 car and then 5 car units. The class 378s are currently undergoing a refurbishment.
Class 710
[edit | edit source]London Overground ordered 6 Class 710/3s to displace some 378s for an enhanced East London Line timetable as the 378s are the only trains permitted to run on the East London Line in passenger service.
History
[edit | edit source]
In the 1960s under the Beeching Axe British Rail planned to close the North London Line.
Services
[edit | edit source]The North London Line receives a standard 4 trains per hour on both Richmond and Clapham Junction branches which combine at Willesden Junction to create an 8 train per hour service running roughly in the pattern of Train, 5 minute gap, Train, 10 minute gap, Train and repeat. The 10 minute gap is to allow the North London Line to handle 4 trains per hour of freight as well in the off peaks. In additon to the London Overground service you have the District Line between Richmond and Gunnersbury and the Southern West London Line service between Clapham Junction and Shepherds Bush.
